Salzburg Winter Sports

The Salzburg Sportwelt Ski Region is the best choice for those who want to try cheap ski holidays in Austria. Resorts in this region are Flachau, Wagrain, St. Johann-Alpendorf, Radstadt, Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Kleinarl, Eben and Filzmoos which offers about 350 kilometers of ski slopes, very good for all categories of skiers. 95 percent of the ski slopes can be covered with artificial snow.

If you want to combine relaxation with winter sports in a place surrounded by mountains full of snow, come into the Sportwelt ski area, the place of Olympic and world champions. For ski and snowboard there are 350 km of trails designed for all levels of difficulty, in eight ski resorts. The most popular in this area is the Flachau resort known for its diversity of ski runs and favorite for all categories of skiers. It is the birthplace of the multiple world champion Hermann Maier.

The price of a ski pass for one day is about 41 euros and for 5 day is 175 euros.

The main ski rental centers are at Intersport and are located next to the gondola. Rental prices vary depending on the level where you know skiing, for beginners it is somewhat cheaper. The rental price for a complete ski equipment for 1 day is aproximatelly 23 euros, and for five days, aproximatelly 100 euro. If you want to rent only skis, then the price varies not so much comparing to the complete equipment.

Wagrain is a small village in the Land Salzburg, located in the center of the Sportwelt ski area. In Wagrain you have easy access to most of the ski slopes.

The resort altitude is 850 meters and the maximum altitude at which you climb is 2,000 meters.
